What the collections are for?

These collections are designed for household hazardous waste, that’s the types of chemicals used around the home and garden that are flammable, toxic, explosive or corrosive.

Storing these products long-term or putting them in your general rubbish or recycling bin can create fire and safety risks for collection trucks, waste facilities, the community and the environment

By using a dedicated collection, you’re helping keep these substances out of landfill, reducing the risk to waterways and wildlife, and supporting a more circular, low‑waste Tasmania.

Where to find full details

For a full list of what you can bring, how to store and transport items safely, and common FAQs, please visit the Household Hazardous Waste Collection webpage: Household Hazardous Waste Collection | NRM North

That page is kept up to date with the latest guidance, so it’s the best place to check any specific items before you load up the car.

Circular North is supported by the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board, which is funded by the Tasmanian Government.
