Last chance to drop off household chemicals in the North

News and Events / News

If you live in northern Tasmania and still have old garden chemicals, cleaning products or other tricky household products lying around, there’s still time to safely dispose of them at Circular North’s free Household Hazardous Waste Collection events this March.

Since 2024, northern Tasmanians have already kept over 10 tonnes of hazardous waste out of landfill and away from our waterways through these collections, and your next clean-out can help push that even further.

Remaining March collection dates

These are the remaining drop-off days for this campaign. For safety reasons, no early or late drop-offs can be accepted.

Scottsdale – Saturday 21 March 2026, 9am–12pm
750 Bridport Rd, Jetsonville

George Town – Saturday 21 March 2026, 1:30pm–4pm
111 Mount George Rd, George Town

Launceston – Saturday 28 March 2026, 9am–4pm
19 Cavalry Rd, Mowbray

What the collections are for?

These collections are designed for household hazardous waste, that’s the types of chemicals used around the home and garden that are flammable, toxic, explosive or corrosive.

Storing these products long-term or putting them in your general rubbish or recycling bin can create fire and safety risks for collection trucks, waste facilities, the community and the environment

By using a dedicated collection, you’re helping keep these substances out of landfill, reducing the risk to waterways and wildlife, and supporting a more circular, low‑waste Tasmania.
