Circular North unveils 2025 Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Grants

Rethink Waste Tasmania’s partner Circular North has announced the launch of its Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Grants for 2025. This initiative aims to accelerate northern Tasmania’s transition towards a circular economy by supporting innovative projects that reduce landfill waste and promote resource recovery.

Grant details

  • Total funding pool: $50,000
  • Maximum grant amount: Up to $10,000 per application
  • Eligible applicants: Businesses, community groups, and local organisations based in northern Tasmania as defined by the council boundaries of Break O’Day, George Town, City of Launceston, Meander Valley, Northern Midlands, Dorset, West Tamar and Flinders Island.

Focus areas

The grants will fund projects that:

  • Support circular economy initiatives
  • Reduce waste going to landfill
  • Invest in innovative recycling infrastructure
  • Develop educational materials to improve waste management practices

Previous success stories

Since being hosted by NRM North, Circular North’s grants program has achieved significant results including:

  • 18 organisations supported across northern Tasmania
  • $215,000 in funding distributed
  • Over 200 tonnes of waste diverted from landfill

Past projects have included expanding composting and worm farming operations, launching repair cafés, and improving recycling infrastructure. By investing in forward-thinking solutions, the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Grants continue to drive positive change, ensuring valuable resources are recovered and repurposed for a more sustainable future in Tasmania.
