The Northern Tasmanian Waste Management Group is hosting FREE household hazardous waste drop off events for common home cleaning and gardening products:
>> Saturday 26th October 2019 – 8.30am – 11.30am at St Helens Waste Transfer Station – Eagle St
>> Saturday 26th October 2019 – 12.30pm – 3.30pm at George Town Waste Transfer Station – 111 Mount George Rd
>> Sunday 27th October 2019 – 8.00am – 4.00pm at Launceston Recycling Centre – Cavalry Rd, Mowbray.

These drop-off services are for all residents of Northern Tasmania living in the Break O Day, George Town, Launceston, Meander Valley, Northern Midlands and West Tamar areas, for domestic quantities of household chemicals.

No registration required – simply bring your unused chemicals and chemical containers for safe disposal.

Pack material in a sturdy box & transport in the boot of your car. Make sure individual containers are no larger than 20kg or 20 litres.

Toxic chemicals dropped off on the Household Hazardous collection day are immediately sorted, placed in sealed drums and transported to a specialist waste treatment facility.

Every effort is made to recycle chemicals or use them for other purposes such as energy recovery. As a last resort where chemicals can’t be recycled or reused, some may be stored in secure landfills in accordance with Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Tasmania’s requirements.
